About

Hey there! So with all the fancy blogs out there written by people that make being healthy into a full-time job, I felt that the less fancy should have a voice too. It's not as hard and expensive and time-consuming to be healthy as it's made out to be, I swear.

I've been running since high school when I participated in track and cross country... so for 14 years now! Since then I've done quite a few races (okay, probably an average of about three per year, I'm not wealthy). As long as I always have something I should be training for, I'm good. So far I've completed three marathons, five half marathons, a lot of other random distances, and probably about a billion 5ks. My favorite distance is the half marathon (ideally it would be a 3/4 marathon, but they aren't too prevalent). I mainly see marathons as a way to make half marathons seem easier. It's all about relativity for me.

Food wise, I'm vegetarian and have been since I was a kid (the trend here is that I'm very stuck in my ways). I feel funny calling myself a vegan, but I do try to eat a primarily vegan diet, probably 85%, I'm just not crazy about reading labels at restaurants and all that, some strange things end up having dairy sometimes. I think this is what motivates me to cook a lot because I can have control over exactly what goes into my food (also the fact that it's cheaper).

I'll try to share some tips for cheap, healthy eating and maybe some other random money-saving tips as well. I also really value race recaps because I hate wasting money on a sub-par race, so I may get to posting a few of those too!
